The first Eumos Qualified Experts in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging have been examined in a Pilot Exam running simultaneously on the three locations – Brussels, Barcelona and Limerick. The certification of the newly examined experts is based on the EUMOS 40607 standards which aim at training professionals to perform their responsibilities related to cargo securing and transport packaging according to Annex 3 of EU Directive 2014/47/EU describing the EU provisions for cargo securing for technical road side inspections of the road worthiness of commercial vehicles. The new standards specify the qualification criteria for professionals setting the minimum requirements to become a qualified expert in cargo securing and transport packaging.

The EUMOS 40607 standards have been elaborated for qualifying experts in the following professional groups:

• EUMOS 40607-1:2015 Qualified Expert in General Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements
• EUMOS 40607-2:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Logistics and Transport Directors
• EUMOS 40607-3:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport
• Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Drivers and Forklift Operators
• EUMOS 40607-4:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport
• Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Police and Public Authorities

Eumos aims at certifying cargo securing and transport packaging experts across Europe in online exams which will be launched this Autumn reaching out to a broader audience. The preparation for the exam can be done in any training institution for cargo securing of choice based on the EUMOS 40607:2020 Guide “Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Levels 1/2/3/4” which will be provided to all candidates in the framework of the exam package. The online exams will be announced after the Summer.
