20 April 2023Setting the Standard: EUMOS Certification Exam for Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging Experts
26 June 2023- Eumos, the European Safe Logistics Association, in 2020 published a set of standards for qualifying experts in cargo securing for different professional groups:
EUMOS 40607-1:2015 Qualified Expert in General Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements
EUMOS 40607-2:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Logistics and Transport Directors
EUMOS 40607-3:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Drivers and Forklift Operators
EUMOS 40607-4:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Police and Public Authorities
The EUMOS qualification aims at training professionals to be able to perform their jobs related to cargo securing and transport packaging according to Annex 3 of EU Directive 2014/47/EU which describes the EU provisions for cargo securing for technical road side inspections of the road worthiness of commercial vehicles. The new standards specify the qualification criteria for professionals setting the minimum requirements to become a qualified expert in general cargo securing and transport packaging. They represent an element to ensure that the professional in the chain ensures that all within his/her responsibility is carried out in order to close the circle of the chain of responsibility. The minimum requirements described in the standard include theoretical and practical knowledge as well as experience by the qualified expert.
Eumos has now finalised the “EUMOS 40607:2020 Guide: Qualified Expert for Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging – Minimum Requirements for Levels 1/2/3/4” to serve as a basis for the exam. Pilot Exams in Belgium, Spain and Ireland
on 23 June 2023
The exams will take place on 23 June at the 3 locations. The exact venues are still to be confirmed.
Belgium (Brussels, 23 June, 9.30h-13.30h C.E.S.T.): There will be a possibility of taking the exam in Dutch and English for the following standards:
- EUMOS 40607-1:2015 Qualified Expert in General Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements
- EUMOS 40607-2:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Logistics and Transport Directors
- EUMOS 40607-4:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Police and Public Authorities
Spain (23 June, 9.30h-13.30h C.E.S.T., location tbc): There will be a possibility of taking the exam in Spanish for the following standard:
- EUMOS 40607-2:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Logistics and Transport Directors
Ireland (Limerick, 23 June, time tbc): There will be a possibility of taking the exam in English for the following standard:
- EUMOS 40607-2:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Logistics and Transport Directors
- EUMOS 40607-4:2020 Qualified Expert in Cargo Securing and Transport Packaging. Minimum Requirements for Police and Public Authorities
